comment spam escalation

Despite my taxing ‘Are you a spambot?’ checkbox, a couple of spam comments have slipped through in the last week. Therefore I’m raising the bar for the spambot test below…

Once I’ve a spot of free time, I’ll upgrade to WordPress2.0 which may have satisfactory anti-spam measures. Until then, I’m relying on the simple, unique-problem approach.

a couple of version 2.0s

A couple webapps have clicked into version 2 in the last little while without me noticing.

Wordpress is the engine powering this blog and WordPress 2.0 promises to be more streamlined with AJAX, plus better backend and other stuff too numerous to mention. Will be putting aside an evening to usher everything over soon.

Skype, the best VoIP (i.e. internet telephony) service around has finally done the decent thing and incorporated video with Skype 2.0. It’s still beta but is perfectly usable and will probably necessitate me getting a second webcam.

does technorati nip out to the shops?

Checked onto bloglines this afternoon for my RSS round-up only to be introduced to the ‘Bloglines Plumber’. Cute. A big shrugging stock-image telling me neither what they are working on nor how long it is likely to take. This puts bloglines with Flickr’s notorious ‘massages’.

Looks like Web2.0 means you can take your service down whenever you like so long as you’re cute about it. Have these people never heard of redundancy or development servers? Particularly when you’ve got Yahoo behind you.
